Even with a rainy day, over 150 serious football players enjoyed B2G's Instinct Training this past weekend. Talk about commitment and dedication...congrats to all those who got it in that day. Especially to those who traveled to both locations.
As the rain poured down over Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles, over 80 football players showed up to get expert instruction from real scouts. Most of their peers stayed indoors to watch the exciting NFL playoffs games as comfortable fans. "It takes a serious football player to miss those games on t.v. to go compete and work on their own game. That's the type of players we attract though. It makes it easier for us to instill the success philosophy John Wooden preaches; 'No whining. No complaints. No excuses.'" B2G Co-founder Ron Allen explained.
The JV group drew a lot of praise during the one on ones for the way they competed and stepped up to the challenge. Each position were given specific instructions and then coached up when they made mistakes. By the final few drills they had it down and executed like Varsity vets. Top prospects like Taft's QB Michael Bercovici, Shaquille Richardson (UCLA commit) & All-City Dorsey, Don Charles Garrett, all kept raising the bar for how a B2G Varsity vet approaches these sessions. They were going at it big time. The defense took home the honors by breaking up the last play of the day and making the offense give them 50 pushups.
The talent level at Newbury Park stepped up a few notches this weekend. Oregon bound DB Troy Hill and Westlake HS seasoned veteran Tavior Mowry stood out as soon as the competitive drills started. The lineman, RBs and LBs also competed in their own exciting session of one on ones. Cody Kruz not only was the leader of this group, but also polished his TE skills during one on ones against the DBs. Troy Hill showed why he is one of the best to come out of the 2010 class. His pass break up on the last play of the day lead to the defense winning and the O of course had to give them 50.
Over 50 players came out to Colony HS in Ontario to put in work. Although this was just the second week, it was good to see more new faces ready to take on the challenge that many have seen change lives. The stud of the weekend that stood out the most had to be the TE out of Palm Desert, Jalen Cope-Fitzgerald. Although Jalen is in the class of 2012, his size, speed, hands and pure athletism will make him one of best in his class. Like the other locations, everyone competed extremely hard. You could hear everyone talking trash and getting fired up. The offense won the day by confusing the defense and scoring on a deep corner route. Of course, the D had to give the offense 50 for the costly mistake. Good thing they were able to learn from it now and fix it instead of blowing the assignment during a playoff game
Week 1
This week of Instinct Training (IT), the first of 15, was a strong indicator of how competitive and committed the players involved will be in 2010. This group was made aware by the staff early and often that although they maybe friends, they are all battling for the same scholarship. After assessing the talent in each location, Henry Bell, co-founder of B2G Sports, said: "I notice we are attracting players that understand how important it is to polish their football skills regardless of their status or high ranking. Dominating high school football doesn't guarantee success in college." Each location was well represented by players from all age groups, positions and levels of talent. Several parents made mention to the competitive element of the sessions that kept the players more active than what they were used to seeing at any other training program. "B2G made the kids at other camps seem lazy," one parent suggested.
Los Angeles was the location where the speed of the athletes stood out. It was clear that this will be another group of All-Americans and top prospects that will dominate the college camp circuit this spring and summer. As always, the one-on-one's highlighted the day with strong competition between the offense and defense. The edge went with the O as they made a big catch on the last play of the day. As a result of giving up the play, the defense had to give the offense 50 push-ups.
Stud Linebacker, Cody Kurz, from St. Bonaventure HS, along with other up-and-coming prospects, battled hard through highly competitive drills and one-on-one competition at Newbury Park High School. Even the youth division got a chance to demonstrate their hot talent and polish their skills during their own course of intense passing drills.
In the Inland Empire, we immediately noticed the significant amount of B2G veterans who were back to lead the pack. Each player took on the challenge with vigor and recognized their vast improvements even just after one session of Instinct Training. During the one-on-one and lineman pass rush drills, the defense came up with the last stop of the day, sending the O down to give them 50!
Week 2 Session – We expect to see the competition levels elevate and intensify now that these young athletes got a taste of what Instinct Training is all about. All positions received excellent coaching and each location was a huge success. Instinct Training will continue to grow because of the demand for the exceptional style of training offered by B2G Sports.
